Club Rules

The club rules for Watford Piscators are extensive and a full list of rules is issued to all members upon joining the club. The underlying principles of the rules are to ensure that consideration at all time is given to: 

The health and general well being of our fish 

The care of club waters and assets

The environment

The needs of other anglers

The list below contains a summary of the main rules. This is not a complete list and you should familiarise yourself with the entire rule book. If you are unsure as to the meaning or interpretation of these rules please check with a bailiff, general committee member or member of the water management committee. 

Rod Limit - a maximum of two rods may be fished at any one time. Except on Park and Evans where a one rod limit applies.

Night Fishing - night fishing is permitted on Rousebarn, Tolpits, Castles and Thurlows lakes as well as the canal and some river stretches. Night fishing is not allowed on Stanleys and Broadacres. 

Guests - club members are permitted to be accompanied by guest anglers on club waters providing that the appropriate fee has been paid and the membership card has been signed in advance.

No baited rods are to be left unattended - either in or out of the water.

Landing Nets - Anglers must have a landing net set up for their entire fishing session, the landing net should be a suitable for the size of fish they are targeting.

Unhooking mats - a suitable unhooking mat must be used when fishing for specimen fish.

Pre-baiting - pre-baiting or groundbaiting is only permitted whilst angling.

Fixed Leads - no fixed leads over 1oz.

Litter - no litter is to be left anywhere on club waters.
