WEATHER: A late Summer is forecast for the coming week so turnout the suntan lotion, hats and plenty of fluids. Remember, forecasts change frequently. Always check  the local weather outlook before any planned fishing sessions so you are well prepared. Thursday, 18°/11°, cloudy, Friday, 21°/12°, sunny, Saturday, 24°/11°, sunny, Sunday, 23°/11°, sunny, Monday, 23°/11°, sunny, Tuesday 24°/13°, sunny, Wednesday, 22°/12°, sunny.

CATCH REPORT: September 2023

TOLPITS: Fishing steady through the month. With many Carp up to 32lb have been caught  A small number of Tench up to 8lb and plenty of Bream  up to 8lb 10oz.A couple of named Carp have been caught. The One Eyed Common has been out on three occasions weighing around 32lb and Baby Red Cheeks at 29lb. Several other Carp in the lower and upper doubles also hit the bank. Also plenty of small Skimmers, Perch, Roach and Rudd.

THURLOWS: Has been fishing very slow at the beginning of the month, but the last two weeks it has fished extremely well. I myself had 12 Carp over 3 days and another member also landed 8 Carp in 3 days. One member caught a 28lb 12oz Common. Also few Tench up to 6lb and several Bream up to 7lb.

RIVER: Some small Perch caught on drop shot and also a couple of Jack Pike have been captured on soft lures. Catch Reports for the River are very sparse, please let me know of your catches so we can pass on your results to members.

CASTLES: You are always guaranteed to get a bend on you rod on this lake. Many Carp up to 12lb, plenty of Skimmers, Roach, Rudd, Gudgeon and some Crucian Carp. A few Tench also caught.

STANLEYS: A lovely lake to fish. Especially for surface fishing when warm and sunny. There have been some good catches of Carp with one member last week landing a 27lb 7oz Carp to his surprise. Several Bream to 6lb, a few Tench and many Roach, Perch and other Skimmers.Please remember to forward me any pictures of your recent catches with weights and the lake caught on. MATCH NEWS:

Sunday 08th October - Castles - Lake Closed - Venue Swop. Please leave the Lake by mid-night Saturday 7th October. You can return to fish Sunday after the match has completed. For Safety reasons do not walk the lake until those who are taking part in the match have packed up and left their swim.

Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October - Tolpits - Carp Match 4 - 15:00 Friday - 10:00 Sunday.

Sunday 15th October - Castles - Championship Leg 8 - 09:30 - 14:30

Tuesday 24th October - Castles - Verulum Match Hire.

Sunday 29th October - Thurlows - Championship Leg 9 - 09:30 - 14:30.

CARP MATCH 4 NOTES: The 24 hour carp match, FRIDAY 13th until Sunday 15th October is now full. Could those who have put their names down to attend this Match contact Brim to confirm you will attend. If you cant attend, places can be given to other members who would like to take part.

NOTE: YOU don't have to be a regular match fisher to take part, you can choose one or as many matches as you want to take part in. Who knows you might enjoy the experience and become a regular Match Fisher! Why not give it a try!

GUEST PERMITS: Guest Permits, as well as from Harefield Tackle, Guest Permits can be purchased from Your Water Management Chairman, Ron Westwood, Mobile: 07445 975001. Please note as per Rule: 13.1 Day Tickets only are available at £10.  Day tickets, 24 hour and 48 hour Tickets are  available, from the 1st November - 14th March inclusive Each season. See Rule 13 to 13.3 in your Rule Book for full details.

COACHING SESSIONS REMINDER: Watford Piscators are introducing Summer/Autumn Coaching Sessions. Free coaching sessions for Existing Youth / Family members. All aspects of angling – general coarse to specimen carp. Watford Piscators is offering free coaching sessions for existing Youth Members and Family Members who would like to brush up on a particular technique or introduce their children or family to the sport. We have a number of Angling Trust Certified Coaches at the Club who can provide instruction in all aspects of Angling from basic pleasure fishing (River or Stillwater) to Specimen Carp Angling.  With a river stretch and four lakes - one with a purpose-built coaching platform and several disabled access fishing areas. If a family member is completely new to fishing or if you want to learn more about a specific aspect of Angling, then let us know and we will tailor a session to your requirements.
