WEATHER:

The week ahead looks hot on Friday, thundery showers Saturday and pretty much wet, off and on for the rest of the week. Remember, forecasts change frequently, always check  the local weather outlook before any planned fishing sessions so you are well prepared.
Thursday, 21°/10°, sunny intervals, Friday, 27°/16°, sunny, Saturday, 21°/11°, thundery showers, Sunday, 21°/11°, showers, Monday, 22°/14°, drizzle, Tuesday, 21°/11°, showers, Wednesday, 22°/11°, showers.

CATCH REPORT: JUNE 2023

TOLPITS:
Been fishing very well throughout the month for most species. Several Carp up to 36lb, many Tench and large Bream have been out. Lots of small skimmers, Perch, Roach and Rudd.  A few named Carp have been caught. Ghostie @ 32lb, Baby Red Cheeks @ 28.2lb, Fully Scaled @ 34.2lb, Two Tone @ 26lb and the One Eyed Common @ 35.6lb. Several other Carp in the lower and upper doubles also hit the bank. Spawning has taken place on the lake during this month.

THURLOWS:
Fishing steady, with several Carp up to 28lb. A few Tench up to 7.8lb. Many Perch up to 1.6lb caught. Bream up to 9lb, and also plenty of small Skimmers, Roach and Rudd. Spawning has taken place on the lake during this month.

CASTLES:
This lake is always producing some very good catches. Several Carp up to 11lb and  some nice Tench. Plenty of Skimmers, Rudd, Perch, Roach, Gudgeon and Crucian Carp.
Spawning has taken place on the lake during this month.

STANLEYS:
Always fishing very well with some excellent catches of Carp coming out up to 27lb. Several Bream to 6lb, A few good sized Tench up to 6.6lb.  Roach, Perch and many other Skimmers. Spawning has taken place on the lake during this month.

MATCH NEWS:

Due to various circumstances, we are sorry to announce that all Club Wednesday Evening Matches have been cancelled for the rest of the season to be reviewed for next season.

* Sunday 09th July - Tolpits - Championship Leg 4 - 09:30 - 14:30. Please pack up and leave the lake by midnight Saturday 08th July. You can return to fish the lake after the match has  completed on Sunday. For safety and security, do not walk the lake until those taking part in the match have packed up and left.
* Sunday 23rd July - Stanleys - Walkers Pairs Cup - 09:30 - 14:30
* Sunday 06th August - Castles - Observer, (Float Only) - 09:30 - 14:30
* Saturday 19th August 10:00 to Sunday 20th August 10:00 - Tolpits - Carp Match 3 - Maximum to Rods only. To book your place or for more information about the match, contact Brim, 07897 61707

NOTE: YOU don't have to be a regular match fisher to take part, you can choose one or as many matches as you want to take part in. Who knows you might enjoy the experience and become a regular Match Fisher! Why not give it a try!

KEEP NETS:
Due to the current hot weather and fluctuations in oxygen levels, until further notice,  NO KEEP NETS ARE TO BE USED WHEN FISHING, CASTLES AND THURLOWS.

GUEST PERMITS:

Guest Permits, as well as from Harefield Tackle, Guest Permits can be purchased from Your Water Management Chairman, Ron Westwood, Mobile: 07445 975001. Please note as per Rule: 13.1 Day Tickets only are available at £10.  Day tickets, 24 hour and 48 hour Tickets are  available, from the 1st November - 14th March inclusive Each season. See Rule 13 to 13.3 in your Rule Book for full details.

TOLPITS LODGE:

Work on the Lodge is now in progress and will continue for the next few weeks. Note work will be carried out on, in and around the Tolpits Lodge and from time to time may cause disruption to the Lodge Bank.

COACHING SESSIONS:

Recently a coaching taster session was carried on Castles with 8 year old Ted, you can see how pleased Ted was with one of his catches.

Watford Piscators are introducing Summer/Autumn Coaching Sessions.
Free coaching sessions for Existing Youth / Family members.
All aspects of angling – general coarse to specimen carp.
Watford Piscators is offering free coaching sessions for existing Youth Members and Family Members who would like to brush up on a particular technique or introduce their children or family to the sport.
We have a number of Angling Trust Certified Coaches at the Club who can provide instruction in all aspects of Angling from basic pleasure fishing (River or Stillwater) to Specimen Carp Angling.  With a river stretch and four lakes - one with a purpose-built coaching platform and several disabled access fishing areas.
If a family member is completely new to fishing or if you want to learn more about a specific aspect of Angling, then let us know and we will tailor a session to your requirements.
