Especially important during this exceptionally hot weather

With the very hot weather we are having now make sure your unhooking mat is wet before taking the fish out of the water. Try to avoid having your unhooking mat in direct sun as they can get very hot. When you have landed your fish allow it to recover in the landing net for about 5 minutes before taking it out onto the mat, this will give your catch time to recover. Always have a container of water next to the unhooking mat to pour over the fish when unhooking and handling.

Remember to return your catch to the water as quickly and carefully as possible.

Now you! Make sure you have plenty to drink for your session, try and sit in the shade or under some kind of shelter. Don’t forget the sun block and a hat its surprising how you can underestimate the effects of the sun.
